Tonight was our first episode of Late Nite With Mommy Pack My Lunch. Honestly, what else would we be doing at 2:30am?

Tomorrow I'll be hosting a show with Michael live from SXSW. I'll be sending him on scavenger hunts to find some people and update us with what's going on. I'll twitter and groovr when we'll be live.

PODCAMP Pittsburgh • November 11th & 12th 2006
"You are going to iPod camp? Are you SERIOUS?!"
That was the common response I received when telling people why I would not be attending their party, seeing a movie, or anything else of that sort this past weekend.
I just simply stated, "No, it's not an iPod camp.." and continued along. I didn't even bother trying to further explain what exactly PODCAMP was. Now I know that was a mistake. I should have taken the time to let them be aware of what was going on.
After this weekend, I came to the conclusion that you do not need to have an audio/video podcast, a blog, or even be interested in attending! Granted, these types have things have been my life for as long as I can remember, but meeting people in the opposite spectrum also enjoyed the event more than they thought they would. Myself included.
What makes PODCAMP different than any other conference you might have attended? These are UnConferences. They are held by anyone who feels they have something worthwhile to say.
For example, the night before the last day of PODCAMP I was able to schedule a room. My topic of choice was online video editing with Jumpcut.com. The turnout was decent and the range of people (From a teenager, to a dance teacher, to a comic book illustrator, to a school teacher, to an actor) I spoke to was interesting and I loved being able to see the ways that they would be able to put this website to use.
The possibilities are endless. I found myself stating this more than once in a conversation with many different people, and it's the truth. The people that I met this weekend were all extremely creative and amazing. I have never before had the feeling of being so at home with such a large group of people. I believe that feeling was mutual between anyone who attended. Everyone understood what the other was trying to accomplish and was always very supportive.
So, whoever you are.. go to PODCAMP. It just might change your life for the better.
